Privacy policy

Last updated: October 14, 2026

Passlane is made by The Open Apps, Inc., a Delaware corporation ("we", "us"). This policy covers the Passlane DMV Permit Test plugin in ChatGPT and the website passlane.ambientapp.ai. It explains what we collect, why, who receives it, how long we keep it, and how to delete it.

The short version

  • Passlane doesn't know who you are. It keeps your practice tests under a scrambled form of the anonymous ID that ChatGPT sends, never your name, email address or chat.
  • What we keep is your practice: the tests you take, the answers you choose and your scores, so you can see progress and retake what you missed.
  • No ads, no analytics, no cookies, no selling of data. Passlane is free.
  • Say "Delete my Passlane data" in ChatGPT to delete everything tied to you at once.

We don't use your data to train AI models.

About ChatGPT. You use Passlane in ChatGPT, where OpenAI handles the conversation under OpenAI's privacy policy. We send ChatGPT the state and kind of test, how many questions you have answered, and, once a question is graded, your answer, the right answer, our explanation and the handbook citation. We never send ChatGPT the answer to a question you haven't answered yet in a running test.

How we use it

  • To run practice tests in your state's format: draw questions, keep the clock, grade answers and show results.
  • To show your progress and the questions you missed, so you can retake them.
  • To prevent misuse, keep the service secure, and answer support requests.
